The two teams will join Rebirth and Triumph on the team list for the $30,000 event.
The North American closed qualifier for DreamHack Open January has concluded, seeing Extra Salt and paiN claim the two spots on offer in the main event.
Justin "FaNg" Coakley's debut under the Extra Salt banner went swimmingly as the team edged past Bad News Bears and paiN in the upper bracket to claim their spot in the $30,000 tournament.
Josh "oSee" Ohm was the driving force in both of his team's series victories, narrowly securing 16-13 and 16-14 wins on Inferno and Nuke against Peter "ptr" Gurney's men before defeating the Brazilian roster in a three-map series, requiring overtime for a victory on map one before recovering from a Dust2 loss by scoring a 16-9 win on Nuke to claim a win.
Vinicios "PKL" Coelho's side recovered from their upper bracket final loss to Extra Salt as they soundly took down High Coast 2-0 in the final series of the qualifier.
The two teams had previously squared off in the opening round, in which paiN had come out the better side in a closely-contested affair, but this was not the case in the rematch as the Brazilian team remained in control throughout to claim a 2-0 victory and ensure their berth to the main event.
The team list for DreamHack Open January North America, which is set to run from January 27-31, looks as follows:
